Series of paintings, collages and artist’s book, various sizes

dazzled by the sun is a series consisting of paintings, collages and a hand-bound artist’s book. The works use repeated rectangular forms in black, orange, yellow and cream to explore the visual and sensory effect of direct sunlight. It reflects the brief moment when vision is overwhelmed and the world is reduced to shifting blocks of colour and light.

The paintings are made with acrylic on paper and are layered and stapled onto larger sheets. The collages continue the same visual language through cut and arranged coloured papers.

The artist’s book, printed and hand-bound at sezon in Izmir, includes 40 pages made from papers of varying weights and colours. It brings the composition into the format of a book while allowing space for future writing or drawing.

The series as a whole refers to the moment after looking directly at the sun, when sight is momentarily lost. The works recall the poetic afterimage that follows looking into the sun, a moment when sight is suspended, and perception becomes abstract, open and undefined.
