Global Talent is a performance that explores the absurdities of navigating bureaucratic systems as an artist. Developed during the BAK Fellowship for Situated Practice, Betül Aksu undertakes the Global Talent visa application process to live and work in the UK. The work critiques the disorienting and reductive nature of justifying one's artistic practice within legal frameworks. Through her reenactment of this bureaucratic process, Betül highlights the tension between artistic freedom and institutional constraints, exposing the surreal and often frustrating experience of defining creative labor within the rigid parameters of visa requirements.
