Interactive Installation

This installation invites viewers to engage with forgotten moments by interacting with second-hand photographs collected from London’s flea markets. When a photograph is placed against a hacked digital frame, a prewritten story appears. Viewers are encouraged to read and reinterpret these narratives, layering their own memories and associations onto the image.

Hand-Me-Down explores how personal and collective histories intersect through the act of looking. A photograph may freeze a specific time and place, but its meaning is constantly reshaped by those who view it. In prompting viewers to project their own stories onto anonymous images, the work reveals how memory, imagination and recognition can transform the remnants of others’ lives into deeply personal reflections.
