Betül AksuKoltuk sevdası
2017 - 2024
Series of photographs

Koltuk sevdası is a photographic series capturing chairs, benches, and other surfaces for sitting, all photographed while in motion. Taken from buses, trains, cars, or while walking, the images reflect a continuous state of movement and a fleeting relationship with the idea of rest. Each seat appears as a trace of pause within a world that rarely stops.

The title, a Turkish phrase meaning love of the seat, refers to the desire to hold onto power. By framing these ordinary objects through a moving lens, the work questions who gets to sit, who decides where sitting is allowed, and how space is claimed or withheld. By observing from a constant state of motion, Koltuk sevdası asks whether rest is something granted, taken, or denied.
