Betül AksuThe Picture of Meaning: Recaptured
2015
Interactive installation

This installation explores how meaning is shaped through presence and movement. Viewers encounter a shifting text that appears, blends, or vanishes depending on where they stand in the space. As the body moves, so does the visibility of language, turning reading into an interactive and temporal act.

Inspired by Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Picture Theory, which proposes that language gains meaning when it can be pictured in the real world, the work invites participants to experience this idea physically. Meaning is not fixed in the text alone but recaptured through the reader’s position, presence, and engagement in real time.
